The Folly Fun Fair

Midweek treats and after work pick me ups are fast becoming my new favourite way of keeping a level head - and a great chance to explore a little bit more of London too.

On Tuesday we jumped on the tube and made our way to The Folly Bar for an after work drink.

Who were celebrating their 4th Birthday with a fun-fair fairground circus themed party. The Folly is a beautiful botanical inspired restaurant and bar just near Bank station on Gracechurch Street.

We were greeted by two costume-clad hosts at the bottom of the stairs

Who took our names and gifted us our magic drinks ticket!

We quickly canvassed the place and spotted the stripy cup stand and got in line for our own.

A man with a painted face performed the cocktail trickery and conjured us up a cup of the good stuff

Not entirely sure what was in The Folly magic cup potion - but something tequilla-ry tasting topped with plenty of ice and big dollop of candy floss!

Here it is for closer inspection...

There were trays of popcorn cones littered on the tables

Tarot card and fortune readings

Circus games and creative balloon hat making

Beautiful circus themed posters and plenty of fun fair regalia!  I loved the rainbow bunting, it really bought The Folly to life.

The Folly even celebrated it's 4 years with a big birthday cake which was shared among the guests on dainty blue patterned plates!

The stripy cup concoctions didn't last long, soon they were all slurped up so we ordered a round of the glass ones!

The Folly cocktail menu - or SIP menu as it's known, has some fun and quirky choices (I visited The Fable a few months ago and we loved the range and creative choices)  I had the Mango Mojito!

They made us happy...

Not nearly as happy as when the mini burger platters appeared, and were conveniently placed on our table...

Half a bun, dollop of mayo, tomato, bit of gherkin and a burger - YUM.

More treats appeared carried by the stripy clad waiters, rounds of chocolate covered marshmallow sticks and toffee apples (you know the kind that pull all your fillings out).

There were also mini-sugared-donuts (but we pretty much gobbled them up before they saw the light of any camera flash).

The Folly Bar is fantastic little spot just near Bank Station, it has a great atmosphere and is always heaving with city types looking for some nibbles and a drink or two (or three)!
