Blooming marvellous day at Chelsea Flower Show

This week is the Wimbledon for flowers and plants.  The one week per year where the Djokovic and Murray of the floral world can really shine in all their colourful and creative glory.

That is what Mum & I have decided anyways, after our day trip to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Ps: I am totally investigating how to implement that ^ upside down garden on my balcony... isn't it incredible?

We started the day, as all days should be started - in the sunshine, on a rooftop in London with ice cold jam jar cocktails in hand

at restaurant on the roof - Vintage Salt

My beautiful floral Boden dress here ^

Vintage Salt is the latest incarnation on Selfridge's rooftop (remember Q Grill's Le Chalet? - same place, new theme)

We had a lovely little table for two by the window and the roof was even open to let the little rays of sunshine in.

I went totally on theme for our trip to the flower show with my Boden swishy floral pink dress. It comes in a gorgeous blue too! Was so hard to choose...

We settled in and perused the menu (congratulating ourselves on how fantastic the weather was for our day out!)

We went fishy.  Camden Hells beer battered fish & chips and the shrimp burger with truffle fries.

All washed down with our jam jar cocktails

We were a little naughty, despite being stuffed we grabbed dessert to share - novelty factor A*.  A brownie sundae with a twist!

After a leisurely stroll to catch the tube to Sloane Square - we were at the heart of the flower show vibe;

Admiring the Chelsea in Bloom competition windows - L.K.Bennett's fairytale theme was inspired.

But 1st place for a second year in a row - Kate Spade and her gorgeous pair of giant pink Flamingo's!

Boden Dress

Cue chants of "It's behind you!"

I asked if I could take this one home... (another excellent addition for the balcony!) but sadly she'd already been adopted.

After a little shopping and a few Thursday treats we walked the mile and a half to the Royal Hospital and finally we (sneezed) our way through the gates!

Impressive grounds... and impressive gardens!

This was one of my favs, the Breast Cancer awareness garden.

Spotted some awesome paper flowers (Stacey - if your reading this, next challenge for the garden?)

Boden dress ^ fitting in nicely amongst the blooms!

I made mum chuckle with my new found love of Dahlias.

And of course peonies (always a fav of mine this time of year)

And an explosion of English roses!

And tulips the size of your head!

We couldn't quite get over how busy it was or why we'd never been before? We left feeling inspired, our fingertips with a slight green tinge and our feet exhausted from the marathon miles of walking - and the British weather delivered for once!

Happy belated Mother's day Mum!
