NYE at The Little Gloster

So about NYE....a little late blogging about this evening, sorry! But I didn't want you to miss out on this little gem on the Isle of Wight.

Welcome to The Little Gloster

The Little Gloster has a lovely coastal feel to it - perfect for its beautiful seafront setting. Mix matched wooden tables and chairs are complimented by world maps and sea faring fabric tableware.

For NYE the restaurant was a vision of pretty, oyster coloured balloons neatly anchored to each chair. We settled in with a bottle of Chablis.

The Little Gloster's atmosphere was jubilant and chilled, everyone was looking forward to some good food - and with a seven course tasting menu, there was going to be plenty!

Mr. S was impressed that his favourite Caribbean dark rum was on the menu too

Rounds of hand-made breadsticks infused with olives and anchovies (plenty of tasty salty flavours) arrived to nibble on

Followed shortly by the first course; Oysters, two ways.

One served in tempura batter, the other a bloody mary concoction.

I've never tried oysters before but I do love seafood - both were delicious and hilarious to try to eat for the first time (far too many rude jokes and giggling at this point!).

Moving on to the scallop and pork belly course.  I could have eaten this dish 5 times over it was exquisite.

A top up of good old Chablis (to cleanse the palette)

And really big beers

Which fuelled an impromptu photoshoot...

More food arrived, this time an el-dente lobster ravioli & broth.

With the beef wellington stuffed with porcini mushrooms a little while after

Feeling absolutely stuffed by this point we powered through with a refreshing lemon sorbet and limoncello shots.

Ending the food-coma with a chocolate slab of heaven.

Sorry, I got a little champagne hands at this point and the photography for the night rapidly deteriorated.

Rounds of champagne and sparklers followed by a lovely fireworks display at midnight finished off a brilliant evening - and saw us into the new year.

I'll stop.

Happy New Year everyone! May 2016 bring you nothing but good things.
